Build fluency, live online. The B2 course prepares you for work, studies, and demanding conversations: understanding complex texts, arguing clearly with nuance, and convincing others in writing and speaking. In a small group with a real teacher from Hannover, from anywhere.
Online B2 at Phonem trains advanced language skills: reading technical texts and reports, representing viewpoints with nuance, and adapting style and register, with plenty of speaking and writing practice, direct feedback, and a high proportion of exercises.
B2 consists of two courses (B2.1 + B2.2, 12 weeks in total). B2 is the minimum requirement in many professions and for university admissions in Germany.
Your path through the online B2 course
The online B2 course consists of two course sections: B2.1 (weeks 1–6) and B2.2 (weeks 7–12). B2 is the first advanced level according to CEFR, a requirement for many professions, university admissions, and demanding apprenticeships in Germany. Online at Phonem, you'll reach this level: live, structured, in a small group.
In B2.1, you'll work on advanced grammar and text skills: subjunctive I and II, complex sentence structures, passive constructions, and understanding and analyzing technical texts from work and society. You'll learn to build longer written and oral contributions in a structured and precise way.
B2.2 sharpens style and language confidence: arguing in formal contexts, mastering nuances between register and style confidently, writing reports and statements, and fully understanding demanding listening texts such as news broadcasts and lectures. By the end, you'll communicate fluently, with nuance, and spontaneously at B2 level.
B2 according to CEFR is internationally recognized and opens access to Goethe B2, telc Deutsch B2, TestDaF (TDN 3–4), and the DSH entry level. This way, B2 opens doors to German universities, vocational training, and specialized professions that require confident German skills.
Phonem online teaching isn't a self-study offer: every unit takes place live via video, with a teacher who corrects and explains errors in real time. In small groups (4–8 people), you'll have real speaking time and individual feedback. That makes the difference at a demanding level like B2.
Those who attend at least 70% of the units live will receive a Phonem certificate of attendance as a digital PDF with the B2 level according to CEFR. The course follows the CEFR, the reference framework used by language schools and exams worldwide. You'll train all competencies at a high level and prepare yourself for official German exams.

A Phonem certificate of attendance (digital PDF) documenting your online participation and the B2 level according to CEFR. Online courses don't include a final exam; you can register independently for external exams afterwards.
Yes. B2 according to CEFR is the linguistic basis for TestDaF (TDN 3–4), Goethe B2, telc Deutsch B2, and the DSH entry level. The teaching trains all four competencies (listening, reading, writing, speaking) at B2 level. Exams are conducted by external institutes. Phonem prepares you thoroughly for the exam.
