Online German placement test
Our free online test gives you an initial orientation of your German level according to the CEFR, from A1 to C1. It doesn't replace an official exam or a personal assessment in a conversation.
How the placement test works
You'll start the test and answer written tasks on grammar and vocabulary.
The test adapts to your answers and narrows down your level step by step.
At the end, you can optionally provide your name and email so we can show you the result and, if possible, send it to you by email.
You'll receive an initial course recommendation. If you have questions, we're happy to help you personally.
- Duration
How long does the test take?
The duration depends on your prior knowledge. The test ends as soon as your level is sufficiently narrowed down. Plan a short window of time and take your time for each task.
- Result
What does the result mean?
You'll get an initial orientation for choosing a course according to the CEFR. The result isn't an official exam and doesn't guarantee a fixed course placement. For a full assessment, we recommend a short conversation with our team if needed.
Data Privacy To provide the result, we process your test answers as well as your name and email if you provide them. We use the data to show you the result, send it to you by email if possible, and support you in choosing a course. You can find details in our Privacy Policy.
