The online A2 course is divided into two sections: A2.1 (weeks 1–6) and A2.2 (weeks 7–12). You'll bring A1 knowledge and build a solid foundation for independent language use over twelve weeks: live online, according to CEFR standards, with a personal teacher from Hannover.

In A2.1, you'll consolidate basic grammar and expand your vocabulary: perfect and preterite tenses for daily stories, modal verbs, and describing daily routines and plans. You'll learn to conduct short conversations independently and understand familiar written texts. That's a clear step beyond A1.

A2.2 prepares you for more complex daily situations: telling stories about the past, describing housing, shopping, and leisure in German, filling out forms, and writing short messages. By the end of A2.2, you'll communicate confidently and independently in frequently recurring situations in German.

With a completed A2 level according to CEFR, you'll understand everyday expressions and frequently used sentences, be able to communicate in familiar situations, and write short, simple texts. A2 opens the door to B1, the central level for work, training, and integration in Germany.

Online learning at Phonem isn't passive consumption: every unit is live, with camera and microphone, in a group of maximum 8 people. You'll practice speaking, get corrected, ask questions, and get answers in real time. This makes the crucial difference between real German learning and self-study.

If you attend at least 70% of all course units, you'll receive a Phonem certificate of attendance as a digital PDF with the A2 level according to CEFR. The course follows the international CEFR standard. You'll consolidate your knowledge in small steps and prepare well for official German exams.
