B2CEFR level

The B2 German course in Hannover at Phonem is for advanced learners who want to communicate fluently and with nuance, for example for work or university. You'll deepen your expression, style, and text types according to the Common European Framework of Reference.

Placement test

In B2.1 and B2.2, you'll practice discussions, debates, and work-related German. B2 is often required for university studies, qualified work, and official proof. Once you've completed B2, you're well-prepared for the C1 German course.

Small groups give you room for longer conversations and feedback on style and precise formulation.

Learning goals

What do you learn in the B2 German course?

Your path

Your journey through B2

At B2, you'll learn to communicate more fluently and confidently even on more complex topics. You'll practice participating in discussions, representing clear viewpoints, and writing with nuance.

At this level, the challenges shift: It's less about basic structures and more about nuances, style, and precision. You'll learn how German really sounds in practice, in media, everyday work life, and academic contexts.

Depending on the university, employer, or authority, B2 may be required as proof of language proficiency. Clarify in advance which level and which proof are required for your goal.

  1. You'll deepen your grammar knowledge and learn to use language appropriately for the situation. Topics from society, science, and media are discussed and analysed. Writing and speaking become more stylistically nuanced.

  2. You'll master demanding text types such as debates, analyses, and formal letters, and actively participate in longer conversations. Your listening comprehension will sharpen even with fast or dialectal German. B2 can be an important goal for study and work; always check the specific requirements with the relevant authority.
